Repertory Dancers during rehearsal.

The Repertory Dancers
The Repertory Dancers is a pre-professional dance troupe which provides students, aged 11 to 18, with an opportunity to improve their technique and artistry while gaining performing experience. Through the rigors of class, rehearsal and performance, dancers enhance life skills and character traits that will serve them in whatever field they may pursue.

The company, now in its fifth year, provides entertainment and education through lecture demonstrations and performances for schools, outreach programs and community venues. The company has compiled a diverse repertory of works in ballet, modern and contemporary genres.

In December 2008, The Repertory Dancers mounted the holiday favorite The Nutcracker Act II to an enthusiastic response. In 2009 The Repertory Dancers expanded show offering, doubling its performances while including two different venues.

In June 2008, the company presented an impressive rendition of exerpts of Swan Lake Act II.

The Repertory Dancers just performed their Spring Season 2010 to enthusiastic audiences. The spring workshop held at Voorhees High School was a smashing success. The two works added to the company's repertoire were Festival at Quartz Mountain and Graduation Ball. Festival at Quartz Mountain originally choreographed by Edward Verso, for the Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute, Oklahoma's official school of the arts, was restaged for our evolving company. The ballet consists of six movements with a variety of compositions adeptly performed by twelve of our company. Graduation Ball is a ballet choreographed by David Lichine set in a 19th century boarding school in Vienna. The frolicking story of young school girl humorous antics was pure delight for the audience.

A community based company with approximately twenty-five company and auxiliary members and apprentices from Basking Ridge, Bedminster, Bernardsville, Bridgewater, Califon, Peapack and other surrounding towns. DCNJ is the official school of The Repertory Dancers.
